WILLOUGHBY HOTEL’S 110th BIRTHDAYLast Thursday 15th October, the Willoughby Hotel celebrated 110 years in operation. This impressive milestone was celebrated by more than 160 locals, media, industry and local business guests, who all turned out in style for the 1899 period themed event.The event included entertainment by Jazz musicians, The Cool Cat Trio, and paid tribute to the historic significance this venue holds both within the industry and community alike. Willoughby Council Mayor, Pat Reilly, opened the evening. He spoke about the history of the hotel, the architectural significance of this NSW heritage listed site, and its iconic role with in the local community. He closed his speech with his famously popular rendition of Louise Armstrong’s "When you're smiling". This time-honored hotel, owned and operated by NLG Hotel Group, was commended for its rich local appeal and sturdy approach to an often challenging market.
